Lu was Clayton's Mom, my step-grandmother, and one very loving woman. Her service was very nice and Bob (her son-in-law) stood up and told us all many great things about the woman she was and it naturally brought tears to my eyes. She lived a full life but it is still never easy to say goodbye. After Bob said all of his wonderful things, the rest of us in the room were invited to speak if we wanted to. I couldn't collect thoughts fast enough....and it wasn't until well after her favorite song was played and we bowed our heads to pray that I felt like I really should have said something. I regretted it for the rest of the day. It is a true testament to what a wonderful woman she was that she raised two loving children that could welcome us into their lives as if we were born into it. We came into Clayton's (and his family's) life when Ashley and I were much older and we were very lovingly and naturally welcomed into their lives. Clayton has been a great step-dad and cared for us as if we were his own. Lu thought of and treated us as her grand children and Terri and her family have always made us family. We are extremely lucky to have been brought into such a loving family...Lu's family. I feel blessed to have known her and that's what I should have said.
