Time-Out
This picture wasn't taken this week but it felt appropriate for this post since this is the lovely face we experience around a time-out session :) Of course now he throws himself to the floor in addition but you get the idea! We started time-out this week. Jason finally manned up and initiated it (Thanks Babe! I'm so glad you are home at night!!) and it has gone pretty well. The first time was interesting because he was in eye and ear shot of his TV so it was kinda like "Ok, is this punishment?" and frustrated us. He still was upset about it at first but it wore off in seconds. The next few after that went better. He tried to get up a couple times but has already realized he stays put until we come and get him. The other night Jason and I were giggling around the corner because he is so dramatic and cries for the one that didn't put him in time-out. He cries through most of the 2 minutes {I usually cut it about 10-15 seconds short because he isn't quite 2 yet...yes I am that technical :)} and usually calms right at the end. We tell him not to do whatever put him in time-out and then ask him to say sorry (it is usually hitting, throwing an object, or yelling AT us about something ridiculous). I know he doesn't understand "sorry" fully yet but it makes me feel better :) It has been interesting and I'm sure we aren't doing it perfectly, but at least we have started the process. I'm sure in a few weeks he'll love time-out somehow...who knows! lol
