I just might be becoming a Wildlife World Zoo snob...I mean, I love that zoo! And I will say it, agree or disagree, it is SO much better than the Phoenix Zoo. Sorry if you are Phx Zoo supporter :) Leah and EJ brought Alden and Leah's parents down (from Prescott) to Phoenix for a day of fun. We hadn't seen each other since they were this big (June)...way too long!
We met up at the zoo this morning and we had a great time! The last time Aiden was at the zoo was on Thanksgiving, where he could really care less about the animals, and it is amazing how much of a difference 4 months makes. He was so much more aware today and was pointing and noticing things. It was just great! I have always enjoyed the zoo but today made it really special to truly believe Aiden was enjoying more of it. It probably just gets better and better as they get older, huh? The flamingos attracted the attention of our little man right away. He just stood there and watched and I had to pull him away.
The best thing about this zoo is how close you can feel, or actually BE, to the animals. The tigers were pacing right up next to the fence today...so awesome. Aiden was actually scared and didn't really feel the closeness was necessary. He was clutching to Daddy.

Aiden enjoyed the pond and threw food to the coy and ducks.

He of course got in some flirt time with Leah...

Today was the first time visiting the petting zoo. They had 2...one with all tortoises and the other with a wide variety of animals. He wasn't too sure about any of them. It amazes me how cautious he is of certain things when he does not practice the same caution when it comes to physical endeavors.
When we went to the other side he got the chance to feed some animals and get a little used to them. There were baby deer! I have never been able to get that close to a deer. So cute.

After the zoo we headed to get some food. Afterward we played in the grass and goofed off. Trying to get a group picture with 2 toddlers was interesting...here are our 3 takes...not one of them has us ALL looking at camera. It was a good laugh!

Leah was having so much fun she biffed it in the rocks lol
It was comical how hard it was to get the 2 boys to interact. They had their own agenda and apparently had better things to learn about than each other. But we were relentless and by the end I pretty much tossed Aiden next to Alden and we (us girls...the men didn't feel the need to participate lol) made high pitched and obnoxious noises so that they stopped long enough to wonder what our problem was. I snapped the picture and voila! Two cute boys!

What a fun day! Thank you to Leah, EJ, Alden, Jo, and Ken for coming down and sharing it with us. Let's do it again soon!
