18 months!

A year and a half already?!?!?!?!? Yesterday Aiden turned 18 months and I am appalled that I am a day late to post this! I haven't been a day late for the post being on the right day or a picture of him being taken. But my Saturday was too busy and I realized it this morning in complete horror. Am I the worse Mom? No. Does it sound a little dramatic? Maybe. But I'm a little disappointed. I was on a roll. Regardless, this is my little man at 18 months and ONE day! :)
Today:
Aiden is doing great. He has been enjoying the heck out of the outdoors in this wonderful Winter/Spring weather we are having. My mom and I had went on a shopping spree at Toys R Us to get the backyard looking like it belonged to a kid. It definitely does now. He got a sandbox, picnic table, and sand and yard toys. Plus I moved his basketball hoop out and he got some new playground balls. Spoiled much?! Maybe. The coolest part is the sandbox because I had the same turtle one when I was a kid, so I love that we have the same one now for Aiden. He is boy, boy, boy outside playing in dirt (and mud if he gets the chance), throwing rocks, and climbing on his toys.
The sandbox has been fun...I love all the sand that is all over my porch (sarcasm) because apparently it is more fun to shovel it out. Whatever makes him happy right? :)
He loves to play with the hose and fill up his wheel barrow or bucket...dump it out, and start again. He gets a kick out of watching Bailey drink from the hose. He laughs and laughs. Aiden likes to throw rocks into the wheel barrow and watch Bailey dive to the bottom for it...heck, we all do!
Aiden thinks he knows how to play the Wii...

Aiden will fight sleep like no one I know. I mean, I have seen Jason fight his fair amount but Aiden is a master. Aiden will do what ever he can to fight taking a nap....until he can't any longer and then-

Out like a light! He looks like a frog here :)
He continues to love chasing the cat and getting his chances to pin and hug her. She only comes around and lets him when she really wants him to, so I don't feel bad for her. She is actually really good with him and lets him hug (squeeze) her for several seconds before escaping...just to come back for more. It is a cute relationship.
As I have already expressed, but will again because it makes me so happy, Aiden loves books. He now likes to open them and point demanding that we name everything he points to. I say demand because when it is bed time and I am reading...if he decides he wants to know something he will "talk" over me and get louder and louder until I stop reading and start naming things on the page. It makes me laugh! Some nights I have just given up on trying to read the actual story and we just sit and name things until I know he needs to sleep. He will go in his room all by himself, climb up into the recliner, and look at books. He is so sweet...I hope this love is life long.

The booger learned that he could crawl under his crib...he thought it was the funniest thing!
I feel like I can say he is talking but it is still a lot of Aiden-talk with some words that we are pretty sure we know. Here are the some that I think we know (for now):
  • Bay for Bailey
  • Sa for Sammie
  • shay for fish (I think because I always called them fishIES)
  • ba or nana for banana (it depends)
  • Mom, but he still says it at anyone to get their attention lol
  • ball, but sometimes it is for a ball or balloon
  • ba for bye...he's trying
  • uh oh- he'll throw things just so he can say it
  • oo- I know its not a word but so cute when he sees something he likes and goes "oo"
  • woah

It's not much but I try to pick up on as much as I can at this point. A sound that is consistently made at one thing I am calling a word. I take comfort in reminding myself of how many words he KNOWS and not only what he is SAYING...there is a difference. He understands so much of what WE say, so that's a great thing. His personality shows more and more each day and he is so much fun. 6 more months to go little man and we will be celebrating another year! Wow!
