Table Manners?

That is the goal! :) We have been giving the spoon and fork a try and it has actually went pretty well. He enjoys using them and loves when we make a big deal when he actually eats food off of the utensils (rather then pick the food up with the utensil but then just take it off with hand and eat it). He puts the fork and spoon down so that he can clap with us. He's so funny. Here we are before the new year using a fork...

Nice facial expression Aiden

And of course sometimes the fork is in his hand merely for a decoration as he still uses his hands to eat and smash the food. Baby steps, right? (P.s. This was the last picture of 2009!)
Then this last weekend we introduced the bowl. I tried one of the suction cup ones....apparently the one I got sucks! Well, actually it doesn't suck...and that's the problem! I won't sware them off yet until I try another brand but the one I have will stick to the tray for only about a minute and then is just sitting there waiting for Aiden to get bored and decide to chuck the bowl upward! It is awesome (note much sarcasm here!). And even though it sounds as if I am complaining (me? I know sounds crazy lol) I think he did very well. He was really trying to scoop and gave it one heck of a effort.
It started out so clean and nice....

But by the end it was all over his face, hair, highchair, sippy cup, and of course the floor (although the dog takes care of that for me!).
Earlier tonight at dinner, we did a bowl and spoon again and he did a fantastic job. We were eating and clapping and the mess was actually not much worse than any other night. Good job Aiden! You're such a smarty!
