A new hobby perhaps?
I just may have found a love for making cupcakes! I had recently liked to make cupcakes from a box mix and just use the cutesy stuff out there for decor....Easy. However, when my sister asked me to make cupcakes for my Mom's birthday/St. Patrick's Day celebration...it went to the next level. I started googling what was out there and my oh my my wheels started turning and I had to up my game. The first step was to make them from scratch, no box mix. My sister had found a recipe that I decided to go with and the website had me hooked. I have been able to combine my scrapbooking skills with my medium like for baking. I've never been a Betty Crocker by any means but I've always rather baked than cooked. I made Bailey's Irish Cream Cupcakes with Bailey's Irish buttercream icing and then decorated them myself. I used a template and scrapbooking paper to cut out each of the decorated liners and then used lollipop sticks, stickers, and ribbon for the picks. At the end of this project I would give myself a solid B and A+ for effort (duh, I'm a teacher). The recipe was a bit dense, but flavor was awesome, and I would have made a little change to the picks (shorter perhaps?). Overall I am happy with how they came out and I had so much fun making them. I am now itching for a Kitchenaid mixer and ready for the next challenge. Easter is my next event and I hope to make another fun recipe and have another project to be proud of.
