Today:
I know 17 months is not a milestone age or anything but it is a reason for me to recap and summarize what the little man is up to. Here are some of my fav pics from the past month or 2...Aiden has learned how to shake his head "no" but he does it whenever he is asked ANY question. He will be asked if he wants a certain food, shakes his head no, but will hold his hand out for it. Here is a video from a couple weeks ago when it was all the time. Lately he has gotten a little better on making it relevant but it is hit or miss. It makes us laugh...
His "talking" continues to be hilarious and even though we aren't getting real words out yet, I have come to terms that this babbling has to come first and real words will happen soon. I know for sure he says "Bay" for Bailey but other than that I'm not quite sure. He says "Mom" but he does it to get any one's attention but I guess it kind of counts. This night I put him to bed and he just talked to himself for about one minute (I only caught last 20 seconds) and then all of a sudden quiet.
His eating habits continue to amaze me and I never imagined using silverware and dishes would be so easy (although the word "easy" I use loosely due to messiness lol). He will NOT let you feed him anymore, he has to do it himself. If you try he will shake his head no and grab for it himself. This is a much messier process but definitely the way he is going to learn so I need to just deal. Not that I need to feed him really because he does a pretty amazing job at getting most of whatever he is eating in his mouth for not even being a year and a half yet.
Here is when he moved to a booster. And I don't even have the suction cup bottom on the plate! He was poking his fish sticks and dipping them in ranch...he really concentrates when he has to dip.

I already have Aiden doing chores! He has watched me feed the dog every night and likes to unscrew the dog food anyway so I figured he would be a "shoe-in" for this job. I was so right! He did it almost perfectly the first time and he gets such a kick out of having this job. This shows you one of the attempts last week...he has been doing it for about 3 weeks now.

In addition to him being great at what he eats with, I need to take this time to say how lucky I am as to what he actually eats. Aiden eats so many meats, vegetables, and fruit. He will eat the heck out of green beans and peas and carrots. There isn't much he hasn't tried and only a small amount of things he continues to refuse. He even eats broccoli and has tried spinach, mushrooms, pickles, and bell peppers. He'll eat chicken, beef, ham, and even fish. I know there is nothing I did right...I am just plain lucky! Who knows how long it will last so I am going to make sure he gets as many veggies in him now! :)
He love the outdoors too. He is always asking (AKA pointing outside, reaching for door knob) to go out in the backyard. Today Jason and I took the boy to the park again. It was lots of fun and Jason was able to get him to enjoy the swings.
